Architectural Terms

Architectural System

The overall definition of the wireless lighting control system. This refers to every thing that can be controlled or adjusted without using the lighting console, and the controllers that make it possible. The relays, button stations, and controllers all play a large part in this.

Button Station / Remote / Switch

Not to be confused with the built-in switches around the venue, this refers to the wireless switches around the theatre which control the lighting rig. Generally white, these switches control the relay modules.

Relay / Wireless Outlet / Zigbee Outlet

All of these terms refer to the same type of object: a small oblong box plugged into a wall or extension cable which provides wireless control of the load on the other end of that outlet.

Lighting Terms

Lighting Console / Light Board / Element 2

This is the large controller with faders and submasters that allows for lighting control.

Faders/Submasters

Faders: The slotted sliders located on the lighting console.

Submasters: A logical entity existing within the Lighting Software that is mapped to a specific Fader.
