Architectural System Quickstart

Theatre NOVA was recently retrofitted with a home-grown Architectural System which allows for Lighting Console control of run lights and other special lights for a show.

Turning on or off a Light

The white remotes on walls can be pressed on the top to turn on the room's run light, and pressed again to turn it off. If show mode is enabled the top of the remote will flash red.

The touchscreens within the space can be used to see the status of specific groups and turn them on or off. If show mode is enabled these buttons will flash red. There is one near the Stage Door, one above the box office computer, and one in the booth.

There is a master controller in the box office near the steps to the booth.

What lights are controlled by this system?

Ideally, every run light is under the control of the architectural system. This is not always the case.

The following lights and devices are controlled by the architectural system:

  • all power to lighting fixtures on stage
  • Backstage run lights
  • shop run lights
  • green room run lights
  • dressing room lights
  • lobby safety/run lights
  • lobby flair (shelves)
  • box office run light
  • porch/exterior lighting

What is NOT controlled

  • the full lobby lights
  • stage and house work lights
  • green room work lights
  • shop work lights
  • house lights
  • bathroom lights
  • anything in the basement
